Fishing with the Parker Brothers Randy, Jim, and Dick 6/9/17

Fishing with the Parker Brothers Randy, Jim, and Dick 6/9/17 I arrived at Mazurik's at 5am. The remnants of a full moon lit up the parking lot, pushing away the darkness. My crew was supposed to meet me there at 5:15, but they were early too. Yay! The sky starts getting light enough to see by 5:15 now...and, by 5:30AM it's almost light enough to not need the running lights lit up on the boat. With a 5-10mph SSW wind, we headed north out of Mazurik's to the area between the Bass Islands, Middle Island, and Kelly's Island...to look for a starting point. I set the Ranger down off plane, to take a picture of the sunrise...and, look for good fish marks on the Humminbird. After finding some decent marks, we started to set up. Randy has fished for Bass all his life, and had contacted me a little while ago to set this trip up as a "learning" trip. He wanted to learn how to troll successfully for walleye. He went out and bought a used Ranger 621, and all the trolling equipment he th ...

Fishing with Dee, Steve, and Brian 5/23/17

This morning, I left the house at 4:30, thinking I had enough time to get to Mazurik's launch by 5:30, after gassing up, getting ice, and grabbing some breakfast at Big Boppers. I was wrong. I was close...but, I was wrong.   I managed to get the gas and ice with a 1/2 hour left, but there was a snafu with my ordering at Big Boppers. I walked in, and there was only one other person there....so, I ordered pancakes and bacon, because I figured that would be really quick, and I could make it to the launch with time to spare. However, my order didn't get started right away, because lots of people poured in after I went in the bathroom. lol Anyway, after a quick text to let my crew know they didn't have to get there until 5:45 instead of 5:30...I got a response back stating that they were already there. Ugh! That figures...not often my crew beats me to the launch, but it would have to happen this morning. I wolfed down my breakfast, and got out of there as fast as I could, ...

And, so it Begins...Fishing in February...:)

And, so it Begins...Fishing in February...:) Blog by Captain Juls of  www.julswalleyefishingadventures.com Feb 23rd, 2017 Thanks to the generosity of my friend, Scott Bogen, for lending me his Ranger 621 until my new 621 shows up at the end of March, I was able to get out fishing a few times since last weekend. Scott and I fished this past Sunday and Monday. On Sunday, we went out of Catawba to see if the girls were moving into the area yet. While we marked some good fish, we were unable to get any to bite for us in the first 6 hours of hunting. We were all over the west side that morning, and didn't find any willing to bite until we moved into shallower water...around 20-21 feet. We pulled Smithwick Perfect 10's, Bandits, and Deep Husky Jerks. We only caught 3 fish that afternoon on Bandits, up high in the water column....25 back on gold chrome colors. The stock colors of Black/Gold and Copper Clown produced for us. We probably would have caught a limit had we not found them ...

Fishing wih Ben and Mike

Posted by http://community.walleye.com member Juls It's been a while since I blogged, so I thought since I had some free time after today's trip, that I would share today's trip with you. I didn't have to meet my crew at Catawba State Park until 6:45, so I made some brownies at 4am....by the way, the house wafting of chocolate is a pleasant way to wake up! I loaded the boat with the perch cooler and other things, and left the house at 5:20. I made a few phone calls looking for shiners, but all I was told that anyone had was Goldies, so I pulled into Hi Way bait for minnows and ice. I grabbed a breakfast sandwich from Big Bopper's and headed down to the ramp a little early....a 1/2 hour to be exact. So, after readying the boat for launching, I sat in the quiet Monday morning park and enjoyed that sandwich. My crew of Ben Welch, and his friend Mike, showed up right on time at 6:45, so we were on the water, and headed out by 7am. Our plan was to start ...

Fishing with Greg, Shane, and Adam 3/30/16

From Captain Juls: Fishing with Greg, Shane, and Adam 3/30/16 I hadn't been out since last Tuesday, before the blow, and I was a little apprehensive about what kind of bite it would be after the winds we just had. Wednesday the winds were out of the SW with gusts blowing 35-50mph, and Thursday, the same, but at 25-35mph. I wasn't worried about that wind direction muddying things up, since it was an offshore wind. It was the Friday/Friday night winds out of the NE that I was worried about. I figured it would bring in the colder water from the east, and muddy up the inside, by the cans where we had been doing well earlier in the week. Our original plan this morning was to check the weather at 9am and head out at 11am. Well, I got a little any, and decided to take a drive around the point, to see what the waves were doing. Windsurf had shown it laying down a little more than the forecast I looked at the night before. The ride around the Cliffs showed that th ...

Walleye, Walleye and More Walleye

Community.Walleye.Com Post of the Day
From Prkr314

Left out of Mazurik's yesterday (November 16th), did a lap around Kelly's with no results. Moved to the south passage and found a ton of fish, but only managed to hook up 9 times/landed 5. Running 60 back at 1.4 seemed to be the best setup. Nice 3lb fish stomachs gorged with shad.
